An inspiring story of determination, academic excellence, leadership, and the dream of serving the nation through the Indian Air Force.

A Supportive Family and a Dream to Serve

Jyotirmaya Singh Chauhan comes from a middle-class family where encouragement, discipline, and strong values have played an important role in shaping his aspirations. His parents have been his constant source of motivation, always supporting his decision to join the Indian Air Force. Their unwavering belief in his abilities gave him the confidence to pursue his dream with dedication and determination.

His journey reflects the importance of family support, self-belief, and the courage to aim high.

Academic Excellence and a Spirit of Exploration

Jyotirmaya has consistently demonstrated academic excellence. With a background in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM), he secured 94% in Class X and 85% in Class XII.

His academic achievements earned him admission offers from several reputed international universities, including Pennsylvania State University, Purdue University, and King's College London. However, he is currently pursuing an integrated BBA–MBA programme at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong, reflecting his interest in management, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

His academic journey demonstrates his ability to explore diverse opportunities while remaining focused on his long-term goals.

A Multifaceted Personality: Sports, NCC, and Leadership

Beyond academics, Jyotirmaya has developed a well-rounded personality through sports, adventure, and leadership activities.

He is a district-level football player and also participates in table tennis and swimming. He is a gold medal-winning rifle shooter in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and is currently learning golf, demonstrating his willingness to embrace new challenges.

His association with the NCC has been particularly significant. A holder of the NCC ‘B’ Certificate, he served as a Junior Under Officer (JUO), developing leadership, discipline, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility.

One of the most remarkable milestones of his NCC journey was his participation in the Republic Day Camp 2024, where he received the Defence Minister’s Commendation Card from Shri Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister of India. He was among just four fortunate cadets to receive this distinguished recognition, making it a memorable achievement in his life.

Innovation, Scientific Curiosity, and Entrepreneurship

Jyotirmaya’s achievements extend beyond the classroom and the parade ground. His interest in science, innovation, and entrepreneurship has brought him several noteworthy accomplishments.

• MANAK–INSPIRE Award: Winner, recognising his innovative potential.
• ISRO Young Scientist Programme (YSP): Alumnus of the programme at the U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru, awarded by ISRO Chairman Dr. S. Somanath.
• Entrepreneurship Club: Served as a leader, demonstrating initiative and organisational ability.
• Reflections International Competition: Part of the winning team in an international competition featuring participants from more than nine countries.

These experiences highlight his intellectual curiosity, creative thinking, and ability to contribute meaningfully to collaborative endeavours.

An Educational Journey Rooted in Values

Jyotirmaya studied at Ryan International School, Shahjahanpur, during Classes X and XI. He also spent two years at Uttar Pradesh Sainik School, Lucknow, an experience that strengthened his connection with the ethos of military education, discipline, and service.

His educational journey reflects a combination of academic ambition, exposure to structured discipline, and a desire to take on greater responsibilities.

Georgians Defence Academy: Preparing for the Final Challenge

An important chapter in Jyotirmaya’s journey was his preparation for the Services Selection Board (SSB) at Georgians Defence Academy (GDA) under the guidance of Kunwar Pratap Singh Sir and the GDA team.

The SSB process demands much more than academic knowledge. It evaluates a candidate’s personality, leadership potential, decision-making, communication, teamwork, and suitability for a career as an officer in the Armed Forces.

Through his preparation at GDA, Jyotirmaya worked towards presenting his abilities with confidence and demonstrating the qualities expected of a future officer.

His success is a proud moment for the academy and a testament to the importance of focused preparation, consistent effort, and guidance from experienced mentors.

NDA 157 Course: A Dream Realised

Jyotirmaya successfully cleared the SSB interview at Air Force Selection Board (AFSB), Dehradun, for the NDA 157 course and was declared medically fit.

This achievement marks a significant milestone in his journey towards becoming an officer in the Indian Air Force. With his joining anticipated in December 2026, he stands on the threshold of an exciting new chapter dedicated to service, responsibility, and the honour of wearing the uniform.

His journey is particularly inspiring because he has pursued excellence across several fields—academics, sports, scientific innovation, leadership, and defence preparation—while keeping his ambition of joining the Air Force firmly in sight.

A Message for Aspiring Defence Candidates

Jyotirmaya Singh Chauhan’s journey offers an important lesson to young aspirants: success is not limited to one field, and the pursuit of a dream need not come at the expense of other interests. Academic excellence, sporting achievements, leadership experiences, and a willingness to learn can all contribute to personal growth.

His story also underlines the importance of family encouragement, perseverance, and the right guidance throughout the preparation journey.

At Georgians Defence Academy, we take pride in being part of Jyotirmaya’s journey and congratulate him on clearing his SSB interview and medical examination.

We wish him every success as he prepares to begin his journey with the Indian Air Force. May he uphold the highest traditions of courage, integrity, discipline, and service to the nation.
